SONORA CC FESTIVAL

¡Hola chicos!

¿Qué tal lleváis la semana?

Hoy os traigo una crónica de lo que viví el fin de semana pasado en el Sonora CC Festival, en Cáceres. Fue la primera edición de este festival, pero que promete futuras ediciones muy recomendables.

Salimos de Madrid en torno a las 19.00h y llegamos a Cáceres con los últimos acordes de Miss Cafeína, una pena el no haber podido llegar antes porque todo el mundo coincidió en que estuvieron de diez. ¡Este verano tendremos que pillarles en otra!

A continuación salieron a tocar L.A., que se encontraban con un público entregado y con ganas de más. Elefantes y Love of Lesbian nos dejaron los mejores momentos del viernes. ¡Menudo subidón con "Azul" y "Club de fans de John Boy"!

Con los chicos de La M.O.D.A. sonando nos marchamos al hotel para poder descansar y cargar fuerzas para el sábado, aunque tuvimos que luchar un rato con sus canciones para salir del recinto, eso sí.

Al día siguiente, después de visitar el caso histórico de la ciudad y echarnos la imprescindible siesta, nos pusimos rumbo al recinto para seguir disfrutando del Festival.

Llegamos cuando los jóvenes Belize tocaban para un público que bailaba bajo el Sol. El potente sonido de Neuman y la energía de Second fueron las grandes revelaciones de la jornada para mí; no los había visto tocar nunca en directo y me fliparon. ¡Con "Nivel inexperto" y "Rincón exquisito" me terminaron de conquistar! Pero todavía nos quedaba más... La consagrada banda de La Habitación Roja llegaba para levantar a un público que ya estaba casi en lo más alto de la noche, y los chicos de IZAL pusieron el colofón final. Conciertazo de Mikel y su banda que no decepcionaron con su aclamado Coapacabana.

En cuanto a los looks, para el viernes rescaté una camiseta que me trajo un amigo de Nueva York, y la combiné con unos vaqueros cortos de Ralph Lauren, un chaleco vintage que compré hace algunas semanas en una tienda de segunda mano de Madrid, unas Converse y una bandana roja. Para el sábado elegí una camiseta tee-dip vintage, con unos vaqueros cortos de Zara y las mismas Converse del día anterior. La chaqueta vaquera es también de Zara, de la temporada pasada, y me vino genial para los últimos conciertos del sábado.

How is your week going?

Today my article is about my experiences at the Sonora CC Festival (Cáceres) last weekend. It was the first time that this festival had been held, but it looks like future editions will come highly recommended.

We left Madrid at around 7 pm and reached Cáceres to catch the last few chords by Miss Cafeína. It was a shame we didn’t get there sooner, because everyone agreed that they were fantastic. We’ll have to catch them somewhere else this summer!

Then L.A. hit the stage, finding an enthusiastic audience who wanted more. Elefantes and Love of Lesbian were the highlights of Friday. "Azul" and "Club de fans de John Boy" really blew us away!

With the boys from La M.O.D.A. playing, we went to the hotel to rest and recharge our batteries for Saturday, although we had to tear ourselves away from their songs to leave the site.

On the following day, after visiting the city’s Old Town and having a much-needed nap, we headed towards the site to carry on enjoying the Festival.

We arrived when the young band Belize were playing for an audience that was dancing under the sun. Neuman’s powerful sound and Second’s energy were the big revelations of the day for me; I'd never seen them play live and I was crazy about them. They really won me over with "Nivel inexperto" and "Rincón exquisito"! But there was still more to come… The acclaimed band La Habitación Roja arrived to liven up what was already a very lively night and the guys from IZAL topped it all off. An amazing concert by Mikel and his band, who didn’t disappoint with their hit Copacabana.

In terms of looks, on the Friday I dug out a t-shirt that a friend had brought me from New York and combined it with some Ralph Lauren short jeans, an X vintage waistcoat that I bought a few weeks ago in a second-hand shop in Madrid, some Converse sneaker and a red bandana. For the Saturday, I chose a vintage dip dye t-shirt with Zara short jeans and the same Converse sneaker from the previous day. The denim jacket is also from Zara, from last season, but it came in really handy for the last few concerts on the Saturday.

JAKUBOWSKI

No es de extrañar que palabras como superficial, efímero, frívolo, banal… sean términos que muchas veces desconocidos relacionan con el mundo de la moda. Pero por suerte para muchos de nosotros de repente aparece ese chispazo que acaba con estas sombras.

Esta vez el destello se llama Marta Jakubowski y parece que no ha dejado a nadie indiferente. La joven diseñadora nos recuerda con sus creaciones que una colección es una obra de arte, y que solo hay que pararse a observarla: cuanto más la miras, más la entiendes y cuanto más la entiendes más la sientes.

Lejos de mundos elitistas, da vida a sus mujeres como personajes de novelas, a los que en su imaginario, alimenta y desarrolla, para finalmente vestirlas en nuestra esfera.

Guiada por la introspección de David Kappo en sus años de formación, en The Royal College of Art, fue adquiriendo experiencia con Alexander Wang, Jonathan Saunder, Bruno Pieter y Hussein Chalayan.

Creaciones minimalistas, son las muestras que Jakubowski nos acerca con un claro enfoque de autoexpresión, donde el menos es más y las emociones son los claros protagonistas.

Colores sólidos como el blanco, negro y gris, líneas muy pulidas, siluetas con aberturas y ciertos tintes masculinos son el denominador común de sus últimas colecciones.

No olvidéis este nombre, Marta Jakubowski, un nuevo talento capaz de conectar la forma, el tejido y el color con la emoción.

It is no surprise that words such as superficial, ephemeral, frivolous, banal…are terms which the unaware associate with the world of fashion. But, fortunately for many of us, a little spark has suddenly appeared which is lighting up the darkness.

This time the light is called Marta Jakubowski and it seems that she has piqued everybody’s interest. The young designer reminds us with her creations that a collection is a work of art, and that you only have to stop and observe it: the more you look at it, the more you understand it and the more you understand it, the more you really feel it.

A far cry from worlds of elitism, she gives life to “her women” like characters in novels, ones she nourishes and develops in her imagination, to end up dressing them in our sphere.

Guided by David Kappo’s introspection during his formative years, at the Royal College of Art, she gained experience with Alexander Wang, Jonathan Saunder, Bruno Pieter and Hussein Chalayan.

The samples Jakubowski sends us are minimalist creations with a clear focus on self-expression, where less is more and emotions are the clear protagonists.

Strong colours like white, black and grey, highly refined lines, gappy silhouettes and certain masculine shades are common threads running through her recent collections.

Do not forget this name, Marta Jakubowski: a new talent capable of connecting shape, fabric and colour with emotion.

03. CRYSTAL SUMMER

¡Muy buenas un día más!

Hoy os traigo otro post de streetstyle con algunas fotos que hicimos en el Palacio de Cristal, uno de los lugares con más encanto dentro del Parque de El Retiro en Madrid.

El look está basado en los conocidos estampados Liberty (estampados florales), creados en Inglaterra por Arthur Lasenby Liberty en 1875. Este estampado estuvo muy de moda en los 70’s y dio lugar a los famosos almacenes Liberty & CO que hoy podemos visitar en la ciudad de Londres.

El estampado Liberty regresa hoy con aire renovado y muy recomendable para una tarde de verano por la ciudad o combinado con unas buenas zapas si nos vamos de Festival. En esta ocasión, he complementado el total look con unas sandalias de piel negra con hebillas laterales y unas gafas de sol con montura drapeada en dorado.

Hi again guys!

Today I bring you another steetstyle post with some photos we took in the Crystal Palace, one of the most charming spots in Madrid’s Buen Retiro Park.

The look is based on the famous Liberty prints (floral prints), created in England by Arthur Lasenby Liberty in 1875. This stamp was very much in fashion in the 70s and gave rise to the famous Liberty & Co. department stores that you can visit in London today.

The Liberty print makes its comeback today with a renewed air, highly recommended for a summer’s evening in the city or combined with some good shoes if you’re off to a festival. On this occasion, I complemented the total took with some black leather sandals with side buckles and some sunglasses with frames draped in gold.

02. WEDDING BELLS

¡Muy buenas, chicos!

El pasado fin de semana estuve en Pedraza (Segovia) compartiendo el gran día de una amiga muy especial. Adoro las bodas desde que era un niño, y sin duda fue muy emocionante ver como la pequeña Sofía daba el paso en el altar.

Fue una ceremonia sencilla, como la pareja, pero cargada de detalles. La boda comenzó con uno de los momentos mágicos de la tarde cuando un coro góspel comenzaba a cantar al mismo tiempo que aparecía la novia.

Después nos trasladamos al espacio De Natura donde comimos, reímos, lloramos, nos emocionamos y bailamos hasta que nos aguantaron los pies. Y como no podía ser de otra manera, el domingo en la post-boda comentamos todos juntos los momentos que vivimos la noche anterior, que fueron inolvidables.

Para la boda, elegí un traje tres piezas en azulón con rayas diplomáticas de Zara, que complementé con pajarita blanca de SOLOiO, camisa blanca de El Ganso, y zapas blancas de una de mis marcas favorita de calzado: VELT. A pesar de ser un tres piezas y todo lo clásico que puede parecer, me encantó desde el principio el corte capri de los pantalones y que el chaleco tuviera cremallera para darle un toque más desenfadado.

Hi guys!

Last weekend I was in Pedraza, a spectacular town in Segovia, sharing the special day of a very close friend. I have loved weddings since I was a boy and it was certainly very emotional to see little Sofía walk down the aisle.

It was a simple ceremony, matching the attitude of the couple, but still full of details. The wedding got under way with one of the magical moments of the afternoon when a gospel choir began to sing as the bride appeared.

Afterwards, we moved to the De Natura space where we ate, laughed, cried, felt the excitement and danced until our feet could move no more. And, of course, on Sunday at the post-wedding breakfast we all spoke about the moments we had experienced the night before, which, I can assure you, were unforgettable.

For the wedding, I chose a three-piece deep-blue Zara suit with discreet stripes, which I complemented with a white Solo IO bow tie, a white El Ganso shirt and white shoes from one of my favourite footwear brands: VELT. Despite it being a three-piece suit, with the classic appearance that this gives, from the beginning, I loved the capri cut of the trousers and the fact that the waistcoat had a zip to give it a more relaxed look.

01. CAQUI IS THE NEW BLACK?

¡Muy buenas, chicos!

Si bien nació como referente para el ejército inglés a mediados del s. XIX, el color caqui renace hoy como el imprescindible no sólo de esta P/V, sino como color estrella del próximo Otoño.

Hoy os traigo un total look centrado en el color que da título a esta primera entrada. Sudadera básica con capucha y bermudas de tiro caído para una tarde de Sol de mediados de Primavera. Para acompañar al verde guerra, he elegido el blanco (calcetines) y el rosa palo empolvado (zapatillas). Me encantan las zapatillas cuando sobreviven a varias temporadas porque es señal de mucho recorrido; es lo que me ha pasado con estas Converse que bien pueden tener una década y siguen siendo de mis zapas favoritas.

Siguiendo con la Historia, el color caqui se traduce y relaciona con personas fuertes, seguras, responsables, y en parte vinculadas con la naturaleza. Podemos combinarlo también con colores tierras o tostados si lo que buscamos es aportar un toque safari a nuestro look. En esta ocasión, me he decantado por un bombín gris* para completar un outfit mucho más urbano.

Sin duda alguna, estamos frente el nuevo Black de las próximas colecciones donde los colores sólidos se plasman en prendas básicas de líneas simples.

Hi guys!

While it was born as a reference for the British army in the mid-19th century, khaki is reborn today as the essential not only of this S/S but also as the star colour of next autumn.

Today I bring you a total look focused on the colour that gives this first entry its name. Basic hoody and low-cut shorts for a sunny mid-spring evening. To accompany the military green, I have chosen white (socks) and powdered pink (sneakers). I love sneakers when they last several seasons because it is a signal of strong establishment; that’s the case with these Converse that could well be 10 years old and remain my favourite shoes.

Through history, khaki has translated into and related to strong, secure, responsible people, in part linked to nature; in line with the latter, I finally decided on a grey bowler hat* to finish off the look. Furthermore, it is possible to combine khaki with earthy and beige tones if you are looking for a safari touch.

Undoubtedly, this is the new Black of the upcoming collections where solid colours adorn basic garments of simple lines.

Así es, nací en Sevilla hace 28 primaveras y pasé mi infancia en un pueblo muy cercano a ella, Tomares. Desde siempre me ha gustado la moda y el estudio de la imagen. La pasión por lo audiovisual fue lo que me empujó a estudiar y finalmente licenciarme en Publicidad y RRPP.

En Septiembre de 2009 aterricé en Madrid, donde comencé a trabajar en una Agencia de Publicidad como creativo. Ahí pasé mi primer año en la capital hasta que pasé a formar parte de la firma de moda en la que ahora me desarrollo profesionalmente como Visual & Merchandiser.

Me encanta mi gata, Venus; viajar, tomar el sol y los parques de atracciones; las hamburguesas y la Nutella; la música, los conciertos y Lady GaGa; Instagram, el cine romántico y dramatizarlo todo; regalar y cenar los viernes con mi querido Abel… Pero sobre todo, pasar todo el tiempo posible con mi persona favorita, mi madre; sin olvidarme claro del hombre de mi vida: mi padre.

That’s right. I was born in Seville 28 years ago and I spent my childhood in a neighbouring town, Tomares. I have always liked fashion and the study of image. It was this passion for all things audio-visual that led to me study and finally graduate in Advertising and PR in 2009.

In September of that same year I moved to Madrid, where I started working in an advertising agency as an creative. I spent my first year in the capital there until I joined the fashion firm in which I currently work as a Visual & Merchandiser.

I love my cat, Venus; traveling, sunbathing and amusement parks; burgers and Nutella; music, concerts and Lady GaGa; Instagram, romantic film and dramatize everything; give away and dinner on Friday with my dear Abel ... But above all, spend as much time with my favorite person, my mother; without forgetting of course the man of my life: my father.
